From cosplayers changing in the stalls to 3,000 fans holding it in until a big IGN Theater panel ends, there's always a long line to use the bathroom at a con. And, as a staff member, I'm running around, and if there's a line out a restroom door, I'm not going to get the time to get to go. Thankfully, I have a super power: I like to think of myself as a bathroom connoisseur. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I've been in every restroom from here to Russia, and I can spot one a mile away. One of the key facets to my talent is identifying the best ones to use, especially in crowded locations.
Today, sharing this power with all of you, I want to shed some light on C2E2's best bathrooms. Funny? Gross? Listen, we all gotta do it, and come C2E2 time, if you follow my advice, you'll spend more time having fun at the show and less time waiting in line. C2E2 is in the West Building of McCormick Place this year, and I'm proud to reveal to you two very special West Building bathrooms that aren't at all well-known and you won’t just happen upon on your own. You're welcome.
Bathroom Near W190b
Face the Starbuck's on the Main Concourse on Level 3 outside the Show Floor. To the left of Starbuck's you'll see an escalator going down. Head down and you'll be on Level 1. Walk straight ahead and you’ll see a bathroom right next to Room W190b. No events take place down this hall, so it's a guaranteed low traffic, semi-secret location!
Bathroom Near W183c
If you can find the taxi and shuttle bus drop off, you can find this bathroom. If you're standing at the Main Entrance on Level 1, take a walk down the hallway past the Speed Dating room, past the Show Office, and past the Security Office. Then, there it is, right next to Room W183c! A nice big bathroom, and very few fans!
Heading over to the Hyatt or looking for a really out-of-the-way low trafficked locale? Cross the Sky Bridge toward McCormick's South Building. Once you hit the dancing fountains, look straight ahead to S100 and, tucked away down a few steps, you’ll find a bathroom. For those of you who joined us at C2E2 2012, S100 was the location of last year's IGN Theater.
Happy hunting, and I hope you find a favorite new rest spot. In the interest of full disclosure, I have a few secret bathrooms I've kept in my back pocket. I'm happy to share some of my secrets, but other places are super-duper-tip-top-secret.
